Life saving information
The Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation had a need for accurate and continuous weather information for secluded areas, as pilots were often forced to turn back when the weather suddenly changed.
To solve this problem, a small weather station was developed, to be installed in remote areas around the mountains and rural areas of Norway.
These weather stations are equipped with LTE SmartStart routers from Advantech B+B SmartWorx. The LTE technology used within these SmartStart routers, and their ability to operate at low temperatures, delivers a reliable and robust solution to the customer.
The Router is usually connected to 2 to 3 high-specification cameras, computers, various measurement tools, sensors, and electronics.
All of the captured data can be sent simultaneously, either over a mobile network via a robust mobile broadband router to a central control room, or directly to an Air Ambulance helicopter. This delivers accurate, real time weather information to pilots in all situations, allowing them to predict potential problems, make better-informed decisions, and safely provide their vital, life saving services.
